Description

Apple Crisp Pizza is the perfect fusion of a rustic apple crisp and a fun, shareable dessert. Featuring a golden, buttery crust topped with cinnamon-spiced apple slices and a crunchy oat crumble, it is both an impressive and forgiving treat. Ideal for gatherings or a cozy Sunday afternoon, this flat, thin-crust dessert offers a delightful balance of soft fruit and crispy topping, finished with a luscious caramel drizzle for a gourmet flair.

Ingredients

Scale

1 package single-crust pie dough
4 medium baking apples, peeled and sliced 1/2-inch thick
2/3 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
1/4 cup butter, cold and cubed
Caramel sauce for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the pie dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet to form a rustic circle or rectangle.
In a medium bowl, toss the apple slices with 2/3 cup granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons of flour, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until well coated.
Arrange the apple slices evenly over the dough, leaving a small border at the edges.
In a separate bowl, combine the 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, oats, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
Cut the cold butter into the topping mixture using a fork or your fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Remove from the oven and drizzle with caramel sauce if desired before serving.

Notes

Ensure the apples are sliced uniformly to 1/2-inch thickness for even cooking. For a crunchier topping, do not overwork the butter into the oats; keep some larger, pea-sized chunks. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in a warm oven or toaster oven to maintain the crust’s texture.
