Description

These delightful apple dumplings offer the perfect comfort food experience without the labor of traditional pastry. By wrapping fresh, crisp apples in buttery crescent roll dough and bathing them in a rich cinnamon-sugar sauce with a splash of ginger ale, you create a decadent, caramelized dessert. It is a foolproof culinary hack that produces a golden, syrupy treat, ideal for casual gatherings or cozy afternoons, providing high-quality bakery flavor in a fraction of the time.

Ingredients

Scale

3 medium Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and each cut into 8 wedges
2 cans (8-count each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup ginger ale
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Separate the crescent rolls into 16 individual triangles.
Place an apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up tightly towards the point, sealing the edges.
Arrange the rolls side-by-side in the prepared baking dish.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour the butter mixture evenly over the top of the arranged dumplings.
Carefully pour the ginger ale into the bottom of the dish, around the edges, making sure not to wash the sugar off the tops of the rolls.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the sauce has bubbled into a thick, syrupy glaze.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in a toaster oven to maintain the crust’s texture.
