Ingredients
1 box (18 oz) fudge brownie mix plus required ingredients from box
2 large eggs
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1.5 cups chopped pecans
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Prepare the brownie mix according to the package directions using the required eggs, oil, or water.
Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Bake the brownie base for 20-25 minutes or until almost set.
While the brownies bake, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla, and salt in a medium bowl.
Stir the chopped pecans into the sugar mixture.
Remove the brownies from the oven and carefully pour the pecan mixture over the partially baked brownies.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the topping is set and golden.
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
Ensure the brownies are cooled entirely before slicing to keep the caramel layer from pulling. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For a deeper flavor, lightly toast the pecans in a dry skillet before adding them to the topping mix.
