Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
3/4 cup cold butter, cubed
2 large apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), chopped
1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
Optional: extra caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Mix flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl
Add chilled butter; cut in using a pastry blender until crumbly
Press apple chunks into the dough
In a separate bowl, beat egg and milk; mix into the dough
Knead briefly, then shape into a circle and cut into 8 wedges
Place on a baking sheet, brush with caramel sauce
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
Cool slightly before serving
Notes
Use cold butter for best texture
Chill dough for 10 minutes if it feels too soft
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days
Substitute soy sauce in caramel sauce if avoiding fermented ingredients
